Where to Walk and Exercise in the Area

Regular brisk walking can help you:

Ideal for chilly winter months, these are free or inexpensive activities in the immediate area.

​Common Ground Retreat Center – Vinyasa Yoga, $5 per person. For now, month of January only. 14240 Baird Road, Oberlin; 440-965-5551. Hours: Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., ages 18 and older; Saturdays, 9 to 10 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., ages 7 and older.
 
First United Methodist Church – SilverSneakers Therapeutic Exercise, Free to members (see below). 127 Park Place, Wellington; tel. 440-387-9445. Hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. in Church gym. Targets older individuals aged 50 and older. Call Amy Sasack, SilverSneakers contact person, at above number, for membership and fees.

Splash Zone – Walking and Pickleball; rates below. Westwood Elementary School – Walking and Pickleball, Free. 305 Union Street, Wellington. (Park in the lot off Jones Street, and enter the door closest to the cafeteria.) Hours: Fridays, 6 to 8 p.m. (depending on school openings/closings). Pickleball paddles and balls are available for free in the gym office, but they must be returned. NOTE: THRIVE! is hosting a PickleWalk Challenge from January 13 through March 31. Go here for more information. ​
