THRIVE! Southern Lorain County is a health-focused community collaborative powered by United Way of Greater Lorain County, dedicated to helping you and your family live healthier. OUR GOALS: to reduce the risks of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in the region. THE NEED IS GREAT: Few programs are in place to support health and wellness in southern Lorain County. Research has shown that 38% are obese, 32% are overweight, 26% have heart disease, 13% have diabetes and 12% are smokers. What's more, the poverty rate in rural southern Lorain County is as high as the most impoverished neighborhoods of our cities. |
