Learn How to Manage Your Weight! THRIVE! Southern Lorain County and LCCC Wellington Center are hosting the second talk on “metabolic syndrome”: “Weight Management for Healthy Living.” Metabolic syndrome refers to a cluster of conditions that include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels and which can increase a person's risk for heart attack and stroke.
The talk will take place on Thursday, February 27 from 4 to 5 p.m. at LCCC Wellington Center, Room 119, 151 Commerce Drive. The talks are free and open to the public and are followed by a healthy snack and a raffle with a gift basket valued at $220. PLEASE RSVP TO [email protected].
THRIVE! Dietitian Libby Showalter, MS, RD, LD, will speak on “Weight Management for Healthy Living” and how a nutritious diet can reduce the risk factors associated with heart disease and stroke. THRIVE! Partner Deb Lansman, CPT, RYT, and owner of Lansman Shape Shop, will lead the group by discussing mindfulness as it relates to eating. She’ll also demonstrate posture and breathing exercises.
Two more talks are scheduled at LCCC-WC: ●Thursday, March 26 from 4 to 5 p.m.: “Diabetes Prevention” with Dr. Christopher Babiuch of Cleveland Clinic Family Medicine, based in Lorain and Wellington ●Thursday, April 23 from 4 to 5 p.m.: “Stroke and Metabolic Disease” with a Cleveland Clinic health professional.
