for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland and THRIVE! Southern Lorain County Eating Healthy on a Budget With the ever-rising cost of food these days, arm yourself with cost-saving tips before you head to the supermarket! In this riveting video, Dietitian Libby Showalter offers advice on such things as eating meals at home: “Kids eat better if they help prepare the meal,” she says. Other tidbits: “Don’t go hungry before you shop, which leads to impulse buying.” Don’t throw out leftover banana or pineapple – freeze it and use it in smoothies. And she sheds light on the Flashfood App, where you get notices from local stores on what’s on sale before the supermarket unloads expired foods into a dumpster. |
